From masters of contemporary art to the youngest generation, from traditional techniques to interdisciplinary projects and street art, from galleries to the city space – artists have taken over Kraków! Hundreds of Cracovian artists have been invited to participate in a great celebration of the arts organised by the Kraków Branch of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers under the banner Kraków Artistic Meetings 2017 – CONFIGURATIONS. Painting Sculpture Drawing (30 June – 31 July). The project includes main exhibitions at the Bunkier Sztuki Gallery of Contemporary Art, the Palace of Arts, Pryzmat Gallery, and the Promotional Gallery of the Academy of Fine Arts, in Planty park, at Podgórski Market Square and in the Róż Avenue (until the end of July), as well as dozens of presentations put forward by museums, institutions and private galleries across the city.
The event recalls the regular reviews “Kraków Meetings” and “Sculpture of the Year”, an important part of the Cracovian and Polish cultural calendar of the 1970s and 1980s. The exhibition Rescued From Oblivion at Bunkier Sztuki is a nod to the artworks of the time. The retrospective exhibition at the Podgórski Market Square presents works by winners of the prestigious Witold Wojtkiewicz Prize, awarded annually by the Association for best exhibition in the city and celebrating its 20th anniversary.
