This year’s 36th Krakow International Festival of Composers explores the close relationship between the world of sounds and the kingdom of numbers – a phenomenon humankind has been familiar with since the Antiquity. “Maths in Music” will resound at the concert Two + Four for a pair of accordions duoAccosphere and the Airis String Quartet, Musical Conversations led by the Sonami Piano Duo, and the meeting Poland – Germany featuring the Cracow Duo.
The idea is also reflected in regular elements of the programme: Electric Cocktail mixed under the supervision of Marek Chołoniewski, evenings dedicated to Kraków’s composition school and the annual musicology session.
The special guest of the festival will be Jerzy Kornowicz – composer, animator of culture, President of the Polish Composers’ Union between 2003 and 2015, and director of the Warsaw Autumn festival since 2017.
The finale resounds with the Dafô Quartet and their guests Gośka Isphording on harpsichord and Jan Kotula, leading double-bassist with the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra.
