Fire and Water

Silly season? For music fans this is the highlight of the year! During the summer months, picturesque resorts and big cities host myriad outdoor events. After a bountiful musical harvest is the perfect time to leave civilisation, wander through a forest, chill out in a hammock, immerse yourself in a river and… in music. The village of Barcice near Stary Sącz has been attracting fans of fun and relaxation in the great outdoors for several years with the Pannonica Festival (29-31 August), presenting Hungarian, Balkan, Roma and Carpathian music and culture. Despite its growing popularity, the festival maintains its low-key, non-commercial, family-friendly atmosphere.

This year we are visited by guests from Poland, Serbia, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Italy, Ukraine and France. The greatest star of this year’s events is Goran Bregović and his Wedding and Funeral Orchestra.
