Orchestral Loyalty

We had to wait so long we almost lost all hope. When the single To Believe was released online following many years of silence, we didn’t think that we would have to wait another two years for more news from The Cinematic Orchestra. But it turns out that their creative process was extremely laborious. Founder of the group Jason Swinscoe spent a few years holed up in New York because he wasn’t satisfied with their progress. He finally overcame the impasse after visiting an old friend in Los Angeles. Dominic Smith, involved in some of the band’s previous releases, took part in writing brand new material from scratch for the first time. The result is the first studio album in 12 years, taking the name from the online single. It was recorded with contributions by Moses Sumney, Roots Manuva, Heidi Vogel, Tawiah and Grey Reverend. On 18 May, the group intertwining soul, jazz, electronica and soundtracks to “meditations on faith” performs at Studio. (Bartosz Suchecki, “Karnet”)
