Jazzy and Romantic

Chris Botti first rose to fame as a trumpeter working alongside musicians such as Sting and Paul Simon. Over time, his unique skill of combining classical technique and jazz improvisation to make them as accessible as pop helped him build him his own solo career. His LP Impressions, featuring interpretations of music by composers such as George Gershwin, Astor Piazzolla and Fryderyk Chopin, earned him a Grammy in the Best Pop Instrumental Album category. The record has been hugely popular with audiences all over the globe, including Poland. Last year Botti released Vol. 1, his first new album in a decade, marking a return to pop and jazz with a romantic twist. He said, “I wanted to strip away all the orchestral arrangements and special guests and focus more on my playing, the playing of my band, and these jazz classics that we always love playing on stage.” We will hear him perform live on 7 May at ICE Kraków. (Bartosz Suchecki, Kraków Culture)
