The concert blurs the boundaries between jazz and classical music; Baroque strings are joined by piano improvisations, while foundations put down by Bach are built upon by jazz temperament: on 9 December, ICE Kraków welcomes Leszek Możdżer and the Holland Baroque ensemble. We will hear material composed by the Polish artist for their joint album Earth Particles, released in late November.
The international ensemble based in the Netherlands is acclaimed for their outstanding performances of Baroque music and striving to find links between early and contemporary music, bringing together the spirit of the 18th century and songs by Jacques Brel, compositions by Nico Muhly and the sounds of the Chinese sheng played by Wu Wei.
Możdżer says, “As soon as I was approached by the Holland Baroque ensemble, I felt a real thrill. I knew things would be great.” We think things are even better than great, but find out for yourselves! (Barbara Skowrońska)
