Magical Mixture
In the carefully prepared programme, vocal cords and piano strings create a mixture of pure beauty. We will hear the results during the Voice and Piano Chamber Music Festival – a forum presenting maestros and students of vocals alongside a range of accompanists.
The festival opens and closes with concerts featuring orchestras: during the inauguration at the Kraków Philharmonic, the soloists appear alongside the Symphonic Orchestra and Choir of the Academy of Music in Kraków under the baton of Rafał Jacek Delekta, while the finale at Aula Florianka features Sylvia Schwartz (soprano) and Robert Gierlach (baritone) accompanied by the Chamber Orchestra of the Academy of Music under the baton of Maciej Tworek. (Attention, the finale concert was canceled for reasons beyond the organizers' control!)
Most of the other concerts will focus on songs with piano; we will hear Brahms’s Liebeslieder Walzer, Schumann’s Frauenliebe und Leben, Szymanowski’s Słopiewnie and a wide selection of songs by Żeleński, Ginastera, Moniuszko, Fauré, Rachmaninoff and Karłowicz. A pleasant surprise of this year’s programme is the concert 4 Tango Seasons on 17 May at the Academy of Music – an evening with music by Piazzolla with the participation of the singer and violist Magda Brudzińska and the bandoneon virtuoso Klaudiusz Baran.
