We will see performance by over 30 professional, amateur, student, youth and children’s ensembles. The theatres represent various regions in Ukraine, the Ukrainian diaspora in Poland and ensembles from Russia and Georgia, presenting classical and contemporary repertoire at several stages in Kraków.
Rising Stars
Last year they showed us that they are “Open to the world”, while this year their motto is “Per aspera ad astra”. We’re talking about the participants in the International Festival of Ukrainian Theatre “East-West”, visiting Kraków for the fourth time between 2 and 9 April. Several of Kraków’s stages host Ukrainian theatre companies presenting traditional and contemporary productions. There will be Shakespearean classics such as Romeo and Juliet (First Ukrainian Academic Theatre for Children and Youths from Lviv) and The Comedy of Errors (Taras Shevchenko Academic Ukrainian Drama Theatre from Kharkiv). We will also see rising stars performing in Poland for the first time, including a comedy from an amateur theatre company in Novovolynsk and a tragicomedy by a theatre from Chernivtsi touching on the ongoing armed conflict in Ukraine.
