Madame tout le monde
Nostalgic and demure, or wild and exuberant – she describes herself as both on the titular single promoting her latest double album. Patricia Kaas is a lady of many faces. The mademoiselle of French songs, as she has been described, has often shown that she’s equally at home performing blues, soul, mainstream pop and even cabaret songs. She hasn’t exactly been spoiling her fans recently, though – it’s been four years since her album of Edith Piaf covers (with our very own Abel Korzeniowski contributing to its creation) and a whole 13 since she last recorded a collection of her own songs. Still, all this has just whetted our appetites for the artist’s powerful vocals, distinctive cool growl and broad range. The latest album, titled simply Patricia Kaas, remains true to the traditions of the French chanson. Although some indie-folk inspirations can be heard, this is not about chasing the latest fashions but about the artist staying true to herself. We’ll be able to hear for ourselves on 16 June at ICE Kraków. The concert features her latest tracks alongside unforgettable hits Mademoiselle chante le blues, Le hommes qui passent and Mon mec à moi. (Artur Jackowski, magazyn "Karnet")
