The second instalment of the permanent exhibition at the Stanisław Wyspiański Museum, launched in February 2023, is the result of efforts by the museum’s team to showcase the fragile artworks and preserve them for future generations.

Opening: 14 February 2023.

The new exhibition puts Wyspiański’s personality and life at the forefront, and follows a similar layout to the previous instalment. The artworks are divided by theme, and there is a focus on large-scale works.

The National Museum in Krakow holds the largest collection of the artist’s work in Poland, and the exhibition reflects this by presenting his most famous works alongside those less well known, showcasing his mastery of the craft of drawing, including early pencil sketches in notebooks, Parisian studies in chalk and charcoal, and ink vignettes.

The building’s basement holds Wyspiański’s book collection and first editions of dramas and writings by other authors for which he designed covers and illustrations. There is also a selection of his theatre works, such as posters for his plays and selected photos and excerpts of films of some of the most famous performances of his literary works.

Tickets: normal PLN 18, concessions PLN 12, family PLN 36, admission free on Tuesday
A visit to the Museum is subject to a seat reservation.
