The Kraków Philharmonic kindly informs that concerts on 24 and 25 held within the frames of the Szymanowski/Poland/World Festival has been cancelled over growing concerns related to the coronavirus outbreak.
He was an artist aware of his unique talent, a self-proclaimed obsessive of the “idea of Poland”, and a world-wise composer seeking inspiration from Wagner, Stravinsky and French Impressionists. The Kraków Philharmonic recalls music by its patron during the Szymanowski/Poland/World Festival (24-28 March), presenting music by the Polish composer set in the context of the era and shown through a prism of places which played an important role in his life and work. The second instalment of the event takes us to Paris, where Szymanowski’s works (including Symphony No. 3 “Song of the Night” performed by tenor Andrzej Lampert and the Orchestra and Choir of the Kraków Philharmonic under the baton of Grzegorz Nowak) resound alongside compositions by Ravel, Debussy, Franck, Honegger, Roussel and Saint-Saëns. Artists include harpsichordist Marcin Świątkiewicz, the AUKSO Orchestra and its leader Marek Moś, pianist Dominik Wania and guests all the way from France: the Orchestre de Cannes performs in the festival finale with Poulenc’s Piano Concerto in C sharp minor featuring the acclaimed Lithuanian pianist Kasparas Uinskas.
