Let Them Play!
Talent opens many doors, especially when it goes hand-in-hand with passion and hard work. The principle is well understood by Paweł Kaczmarczyk who always wants his music to move his listeners not just emotionally but also physically. The pianist says, “I want to make people jump out of their chairs and to give them something they won’t forget immediately after leaving the concert or turning off their stereo.” Stanisław Słowiński shows similar commitment, stressing that his aim is to use his violin to produce “thousands of colours, shades, textures with every strike of the bow”. This attitude of the Cracovian jazzmen is admired the world over, which – paradoxically – means it’s not that easy to see them performing at home. Luckily the highly sought-after musicians remember their Polish fans, and their paths will cross in the heart of Kazimierz on 6 February. The concert held at Alchemia on Kaczmarczyk’s 36th birthday features brand-new arrangements of both their repertoires. (Bartosz Suchecki, “Karnet”)
