The Jagiellonian Library is a sanctuary for many priceless treasures, including music scores collected over the centuries. The exhibition From Theoretical Treaties to Musical Masterpieces – Musical Collections in the Jagiellonian Library Through the Ages, prepared as part of the Congress of the International Association of Music Libraries, Archives and Documentation Centres, presents manuscripts and prints dating from between the Middle Ages and the 18th century, as well as gems of Polish music of the 19th century. We can admire Chopin’s scores from the collection of the French musicologist Eduard Ganche acquired during the Second World War, and music from the collection of the former National Prussian Library in Berlin, deposited at the Kraków library in 1947. Acquisitions made after the war are represented by manuscripts of Polish composers of the 19th and 20th centuries. (Dorota Dziunikowska, “Karnet” monthly)
