Kraków is a city of churches, and churches wouldn’t be the same without the sound of organs. The 28th International Festival Summer Organ Concerts (17 June – 12 July) hosts virtuosos of the instrument from all over the globe.
The star of the opening concert is the Japanese organist Mariko Takei. The graduate of the Royal Danish Academy of Music performs a programme of works by Bach, Sibelius and Schubert at the Carmelite Church. In June we will also hear Edward De Geest, Sławomir Kamiński, Stephan Wijgert and Peter Van de Velde. The July part of the festival brings Bach’s chorales by Marco Aurélio Lischt, a quick glance at Dutch organ music presented by Evan Bogerd and three Baroque organ classics: Buxtehude, Bach, Böhm by Daniel Zaretsky.
The beautiful setting of Kraków’s churches and the magical sound of historic instruments provide a truly mystical feast for the soul. (Sebastian Rerak)
