Genres? What genres?

The Tokyo-based guitarist Takaakira Goto had a very busy 1999. He threw himself fully into composing and searching for bandmates to fulfil his dream of creating an instrumental rock group. With hindsight, it’s fair to say that “Taka” did a great job. The project Mono stepped beyond the boundaries of “ordinary” post-rock a long time ago, and his tracks feature elements of experimental, avant-garde and classical music. After two decades on the stage, the quartet shows no signs of slowing down, giving around 150 concerts every year. And their music takes on an extra dimension when performed live – we’ll find out for ourselves on 18 April at ZetPeTe, where the group plays as part of their anniversary tour Nowhere Now Here. (Bartosz Suchecki, “Karnet”)
