Cascading sounds of the overture to Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro and (to quote Wagner) the “apotheosis of dance” of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 feature in the programme prepared by Hobart Earle, conducting the Aukso Orchestra at the Kraków Philharmonic on 28 February. The Venezuelan artist with American roots has been the director of the Odessa Philharmonic for many years, taking the orchestra to some of the finest concert halls around the globe. He also popularises music by Ukrainian composers by performing and recording works by Mykola Kolessa, Myroslav Skoryk and Yevhen Stankovych. During the concert, Earle is accompanied by the up-and-coming cellist Dali Gutserieva, performing in Camille Saint-Saëns’ Concerto No. 1.
