CINEMATIC VISIONARIES
Pod Baranami Cinema is once again visited by the T-Mobile New Horizons Tournée (9-12 January), presenting films by true visionaries of cinema and uncompromising artists. We will see Alain Guiraudie’s Staying Vertical, an almost fairytale story set in the brutal landscapes of the desolate Lozère farming region in the south of France. Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s Cemetery of Splendour presents a metaphorical vision of Thailand, focusing on the director’s home village. We will also see Albert Serra’s The Death of Louis XIV inspired by 17th-century art, and Tamer El Said’s In the Last Days of the City – a mosaic portrait of Cairo at the threshold of the Arab Spring.
