The works of Fuchs and Mahler brought together in one concert are no incident. Robert Fuchs (1847–1927), professor of the Vienna Conservatory, educated many excellent composers, including Gustav Mahler (1860–1911). Unlike the oeuvre of his famous student, Fuchs’ compositions, although popular during his lifetime, has been later forgotten and neglected.
The concert moment musical presents two Lieder penned by Mahler accompanied by piano Improvisation Op. 11 by Robert Fuchs.
Gustav Mahler Urlicht (Des Knaben Wunderhorn)
Robert Fuchs Improvisation for piano Op. 11
Gustav Mahler Ich bin der Welt abhanden gekommen (Rückert-Lieder)
Sebastian Szumski – baritone
Wioletta Fluda-Tkaczyk – piano
Tuesday MOMENT MUSICAL is a series of short afternoon concerts (30–40’) with a programme introduction. It is intended for all those who would like to draw the air of art and free thought straight after school or after work in the picturesque scenery of the Juliusz Słowacki Theatre.
