2020 marks the 250th anniversary of the birth of Ludwig van Beethoven. The great composer will be celebrated by the Kraków Opera on 16 December with a concert Mr. Ludwig’s Birthday” composed of his Romances Op. 40 and Op. 50 for violin and piano, selected menuets (WoO 9) for two violins and cello, and songs taking the most important part of the evening. Mr. Ludwig’s Birthday will be available online on the PLAY KRAKÓW platform.
We will hear songs for solo voices accompanied by piano and strings, inclufing songs from the An die ferne Geliebte Op. 98 cycle and rarely performed works from the Scottish Songs Op. 108, Irish Songs WoO 153 and Songs of Various Nationalities WoO 158a.
Mr. Ludwig’s Birthday features soloists of the Kraków Opera: Paula Maciołek, Adam Sobierajski, Michał Kutnik, Adam Szerszeń and the instrumentalists of its orchestra: Paweł Wójtowicz (also musical director of the concert), Dominika Olszewska, Radosław Bukała, Krzysztof Wójtowicz, Emanuele Leomporri, Joachim Kołpanowicz.
