In 1937, Józef Beer was just a step away from reaching global acclaim. Following the well-received premiere in Zurich, his work was due to be performed at theatres in Vienna, Paris and even Mexico! But it wasn’t to be – the career of the Jewish Polish composer, residing in Vienna, was ruined by the Nazi authorities. Beer’s works weren’t staged again until 2012, when The Polish Wedding – an operetta with dialogue worthy of cabaret, traditional Polish dances and light, captivating melodies – was presented in Vienna. On 29 November, we can hear the timeless work for ourselves at PLAY KRAKÓW. Featuring Edyta Piasecka and Wojciech Gierlach and Jacek Ozimkowski accompanied by the Polish Radio Choir and the Beethoven Academy Orchestra under the baton of Łukasz Borowicz, the spectacle will be the Polish premiere of the work.
