“Our aim is to show audiences that all art has a real, prosaic context. Artists do not create in a vacuum. This is why we have invited Jadwiga and Ryszard Otręba to our gallery to show their prints through the prism of their long lives together,” says Dr. Monika Rydiger, curator of the exhibition Printmaking as a Pair. Jadwiga Kaim-Otręba and Ryszard Otręba at the gallery of the International Cultural Centre.

The protagonists have been sharing their private and artistic lives for over 50 years. They are an iconic couple of Kraków’s artistic circles, inseparable and complementing one another perfectly. Although their art differs in technique and form, it is defined by their common experiences and perception of the world. The exhibition presents 25 works by each artist, including those regarded as their greatest achievements and loaned by some of the most important galleries and museums in Poland and abroad. The exhibition also includes family photos, letters and memorabilia. (Dorota Dziunikowska “Karnet” monthly)
