The extensive programme of activities prepared by the Education Department of the National Museum in Krakow is an important element of exhibitions and projects carried out at all branches of the museum. For some, it is the first encounter with culture, for others – an opportunity to expand their understanding and sensitivity to art. At the experimental exhibition Museum Power at the Main Building, educators share their work and experiences with the visitors.
There are myriad factors affecting how artworks in galleries are perceived – audiences’ predispositions, cognitive abilities and sensitivities, style of display, lighting, even the number of exhibits. The exhibition features works by artists including Olga Boznańska, Alina Szapocznikow, Maria Pinińska-Bereś, Jan Matejko, Aleksander Gierymski, Jacek Malczewski, Wojciech Kossak, Józef Pankiewicz, Stanisław Witkiewicz, Jerzy Nowosielski, Jonasz Stern, Julian Jończyk, Francisco de Goya and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, as well as rarely displayed art by other painters.
