The legendary founder and editor of the “Przekrój” weekly is the protagonist of the latest exhibition at MOCAK presenting Cracovian artists working with words and images and having a major impact on our city’s cultural life. Split into several themes, the exhibition Marian Eile. Artist and Editor s the largest review of the body of work of this acclaimed journalist, satirist, painter and stage designer. We will see Eile’s expressionist and abstract paintings; the artist was such a great fan of Picasso, he even forged his artworks and signed them with the Spanish master’s signature. Of course the exhibition features his editorial projects: MOCAK’s collection includes all editions of “Przekój” published under Eile, and an extensive archive of his work for the satirical magazine “Szpilki”. We will also see photography series Revisit – Salvador Dali at the Pendereckis’, Dali in Kraków, An Attack on a Ball and Historical Scenes. The exhibition is complemented by displays of works by other artists linked with “Przekrój”: photographs by Wojciech Plewiński and drawings by Adam Macedoński. (Dorota Dziunikowska, “Karnet” monthly)
