Due to the restrictions forced by the pandemic, the 12th International Piano Festival of the Royal City of Kraków moves online – but it continues to remind us that the capital of Małopolska is an important centre of pianism. Events open with a recital by Russian artist Sofya Gulyak (9 October). Over the following days, we will hear Gajusz Kęska (11 October), François-Xavier Poizat (14 October), Piotr Szychowski (16 October), David Kalhous (21 October), Andrzej Pikul (23 October) and Vincenzo Balzani (25 October). As well as piano classics by composers such as Chopin, Schubert, Beethoven and Paderewski, we will hear a recital by Sławomir Zubrzycki, constructor and virtuoso of the viola organista – an instrument built following Leonardo da Vinci’s designs (18 October). Each concert is preceded by a short introduction and Wojciech Wocław’s interview with the artist.
