Works by over 30 artists from Europe, Japan, the US, Canada, New Zealand and Iran are presented during the 9th Patchlab Digital Art Festival. Events will be held mainly (but not only) online; the festival motto CONNECTED explores the ongoing digital revolution and opens up a discussion on how we function in the public space. The inaugural discussion panel on technology at a time of a global pandemic features experts from the Digital Centre. Robin Klengel and Leonhard Müllner’s Operation Jane Walk takes us to postapocalyptic New York, while the online performance presents works by virtuoso of the synaesthesia of sounds and images Ryoichi Kurokawa and the Viennese artist MONOCOLOR. The programme also includes the Virtual Ambient Salon, 360° animation displays presented online and at the Hevre Gallery, surrealist VR collages and interactive posters. On Saturday, the INSTANT duo performs at` the Watergate Club in Berlin (streamed live at Hevre). Armed with smartphones, we head out for a tour of Kraków’s 20th-century architecture (Spacer AR app) and explore the world of ephemeral sculptures inspired by Stanisław Lem (SOL.AR.IS).
