What’s Playing in Our Souls

Things have changed a bit, haven’t they? But head radio never stops playing!

The coronavirus pandemic has kept us confined to our homes, but all’s well that ends well. Due to the current situation, this year’s Fête de la Musique – moved entirely online and renamed Cyber Wianki – lasts a whole two weeks. At the threshold of the summer we pay homage to Andrzej Zaucha and immerse ourselves in the sounds of the young music scene; events include the conference section (Industry in Music, Music in Industry) and two concert sections (Cracovian Garages and Cracovian Roofs).

During the series of discussion panels planned for between 12 and 21 June, representatives of cultural circles will discuss the COVID-19 crisis and ways of supporting the music industry in Europe. On 20 June we take a peek at Cracovian Garages. The studio of the Kraków Music Scene presents the psychedelic quartet Neal Cassady, the dark trio Killers in Red, the improvisers Fraktale and the one-man electronic orchestra Mat Czechowicz. The following day we will be everywhere! Cracovian Roofs are held in pubs, clubs, bars and squares, featuring Edyta Górecka, runforrest and Kapela Hanki Wójciak. During the main concert of Cyber Wianki – Zaucha Is Good for Everything (21 June, streamed from ICE Kraków) – we will hear songs from the repertoire of the legend of Polish music arranged by Big Band Małopolski. Soloists include Kuba Badach, Andrzej Sikorowski, Limboski, Barbara Wrońska, Marcin Jajkiewicz and Natalia Kwiatkowska.

The traditional search for the most beautiful garland also moves online. Anyone can win – hone your skills with online workshops, submit your photo entry and sit back and wait for the announcement on 26 June.
