If you love modern dance, head to the Nowa Huta Cultural Centre for a cycle of performances and spectacles celebrating this form of expression! On 6 March, we will see the Lubelski Dance Theatre with their If/Then.
This keeps them in a state of immediacy, of being in “relationship’ to the unfolding of relationships. While the dancers know “what” will happen, they often must determine the when, where and with whom of that “what.” To constantly be in the question of “what is happening and how am I affecting it and being affected by it. How they understand this determines what we see (and don’t see.)
This work is an attempt to create immediacy through indeterminacy. Through making choices, according to following rules, the dancers are playing a game. It is my hope that they …“embody the virtue of non-competition. Not that they don’t love to compete, but they do it in the spirit of play.” Excerpt From: Stephen Mitchell. “Tao Te Ching.”
