Pure Emotions
Through singing, dancing and musicianship flamenco expresses a full range of emotions – from joy to grief, from bliss to unrest. In the 1980s, Andalusian tradition formed the foundation of music performed by Gipsy Kings – Roma musicians from Catalonia. And they treated this foundation freely, which occasionally attracted criticism from purists. Roma families Reyes and Baliardo easily blended Spanish rhythms with other genres, going as far as classic rock & roll. The unique blend captivated listeners, letting them forget about their daily toil and head for the dancefloor. Today, authors of hits such as Djobi Djoba, Bamboléo and Un Amor play in different lineups. We will see the group led by André Reyes at ICE Kraków on 8 March, performing as part of their Gipsy Unidos tour. (Bartosz Suchecki, “Karnet”)
