The World Is Listening
The Italian group Spiritual Front describe their music as “nihilistic suicide pop”. It is no wonder, then, that their repertoire features a song with the chorus “To die by your side, well, the pleasure, the privilege is mine.” And although the authors of the original track – vocalist Morrissey and guitarist Johnny Marr from The Smiths – are irreplaceable, the musicians from Rome cannot resist covering There Is a Light That Never Goes Out and other classic British indie tracks of the 1980s. They return to Alchemia on 7 March with the programme Spiritual Front Plays The Smiths; we will also hear their own tracks written over the last two decades. (Bartosz Suchecki, “Karnet”)
