Piotr Lutyński (b. 1962) is an interdisciplinary artist: painter, sculptor, author of campaigns, installations, objects and drawings, and musician. His projects intertwine natural materials such as birds’ eggs, grass, feathers, pebbles, insects and beeswax with ready-made items and abstract paintings. Since the late 1990s, he has also included live animals in his works.

On 7 February, Bunkier Sztuki presents an opening of his exhibition Buddha, Mars and the Deer, and the following day the gallery hosts a concert by Lutyński’s band Rdzeń. How do we know that what we see really exists? How do we touch the intangible and describe the full range of our experiences? Is this even possible in the face of the vastness of the universe and its multidimensional nature? These existential questions lie at the core of the paintings, objects, collages, films and campaigns held between 2003 and 2019 which comprise the exhibition. The artist’s fascination with nature, matter, quantum physics and space is reflected in the exhibition space centred around the titular Buddha, Mars and stag, biological symbols and the KR 736EJ Project – a mobile workshop where Lutyński works with guest artists.
