Beautiful Traditions

We are bound by many traditions: we spend Christmas with families, toast the coming new year with friends, and join forces to help children in January!

Every day, the greatest medical specialists in Poland fight to care for young patients, but their vast knowledge and experience needs support from state-of-the-art medical equipment. Let’s join the 28th Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity and do our best to help them – the raised funds will provide equipment for wards and clinics in hospitals throughout Poland, specialising in general surgery, cardiac surgery and neurosurgery.

Last year’s campaign confirmed that solidarity holds enormous potential: not only did we break another record (176 million zlotys), but we also smashed the magic threshold of a billion zlotys raised since the start of the campaign back in the 1990s. On 12 January, we’ll be able to donate cash to one of the 120,000 volunteers collecting throughout the country or give money online.

The campaign is always accompanied by music, with the finale moving this year from the Main Market Square to Powiśle Street featuring Marysia Starosta, the reggae group Tabu, the punk rockers Prawda and the heavy metal band Nocny Kochanek. They will be joined by winners of the competition organised by the GOCC Foundation. Once the outdoor music draws to a close, we will send the traditional multi-coloured “light towards the heaven”.

The campaign is joined by numerous Cracovian institutions, with special programmes prepared by the Nowa Huta Cultural Centre, Barakah Theatre, Dali Club and Garage Pub. MotoOrchestra performs near the M1 trading estate from morning, with numerous charity guided walks through Kraków’s districts and museums throughout the day. (Bartosz Suchecki, ”Karnet”)
