Hegemony
What happens when you mix traditional Japanese min'yō music with dance hall from Jamaica, footwork from Chicago, African tribal music and soundtracks from Super Nintendo games, then add texts and visualisations from the ancient shintō mythology? The answer is simple: WaqWaq Kingdom – a realm of bass where the throne is shared among Shigeru Ishihara (known as DJ Scotch Egg on the breakcore scene) and Kiki Hitomi, vocalist with projects such as King Midas Sound and Black Chow. Although the Japanese artists use music to push the boundaries of time and space to their very limits, there is a very high probability that the duo will take Alchemia by storm on 7 December.
