Festive Atmosphere
Putting up Christmas decorations, sharing this special time of year with your nearest and dearest, dashing through the snow for Midnight Mass… And although we’ve had barely any white stuff recently and each family follows their own customs, Christmastime is truly like no other time of year. Aga Zaryan finds in it the magic of childhood. “It’s a moment when we can stop to take a breather from the whirlwind of these busy times, think some more, take stock of our lives,” she explains. And she doesn’t stop there: the first lady of Polish jazz has committed her feelings to music with the album What Xmas Means to Me. On 15 December, we will hear a selection of festive evergreens: the singer performs at the Nowa Huta Cultural Centre accompanied by the European Jazz Quartet and special guest Grzegorz Dowgiałło. We will hear classics including Santa Claus Is Coming to Town and Jingle Bells, balanced with more reflective Someday at Christmas and The Christmas Song.
