The Nutcracker is one of the most popular classical ballets in the world - the story of a girl who, thanks to a Christmas toy, nutcracker, wanders through the fairy-tale land of wonder, where everything is possible, as in a dream...
The fairy tale about the Nutcracker and the Mouse King was written in 1816 by a German poet, writer, musician and painter in one person E.T.A. Hoffmann. Her French adaptation of Alexander Dumas's Sr. inspired the artists at the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg. The ballet shape of the fairy tale was created in the imagination of the father of the Russian dance school Marius Petipa, the composition of the music was entrusted to Pyotr Tchaikovsky, after the success of his Sleeping Beauty, also in the arrangement of the famous choreographer. The premiere of The Nutcracker took place in 1892.
Tchaikovsky's beautiful, spectacular music has inspired the next generations of ballet artists. The creator of our performance is Emil Wesołowski, an outstanding Polish choreographer, associated with the Grand Theater National Opera for 30 years as a dancer, ballet director and author of performances. A painting viewer, using contemporary techniques of composing paintings, will be guided by fairy-tale worlds by Marek Grabowski, and tailor workshops have sewn nearly two hundred fabulous costumes designed by Maria Balcerek with a characteristic fantasy of her poetics. The Krakow Opera Ballet dances. The performance is addressed to both children and adults.
