Leave Your Baggage Behind

During his performance at Woodstock in 1969, he captivated the audience with his unique blend of rock, blues, jazz and Latino folk. He soon realised that if he is to find energy for more, he must make peace with a higher power – and without resorting to drugs. While other musicians improvised, Carlos Santana focused on meditation and recording. He kicked off the 1970s with his magical album Abraxas, and that was just the beginning. During the next two decades, he slowed down and gradually faded from the public eye. But his dedication to exploring the world of sounds paid off, and at the turn of the millennium Santana’s popularity returned: he and his band were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998, and the following year his album Supernatural earned him no less than six Grammy statuettes. More recently he has discovered hope, courage and joy in African music. On 17 March, the guitar virtuoso performs at Tauron Arena Kraków with a clear aim: “When we hit the stage, we know we will touch your heart and make you dance, sing, cry, laugh and leave your baggage behind.” Yes please! (Bartosz Suchecki, “Karnet”)
