Not only Halka and Haunted Manor! Stanisław Moniuszko is mainly associated as the author of national operas. The church work of this outstanding artist remain in the shadow of his achievements in the field of secular music.
In the Moniuszko Year, the organizers of the Musical Meetings on the Krzesławice Hills series want to present this genre in the composer's artistic output by inviting to a concert of sacred music.
Among the numerous compositions of the religious genre by the master of vocal lyric, it is worth emphasizing the special beauty inherent in seven mass cycles. Two of them will be performed during the Moniuszko Concert.
The concert will open with a little-known Polish Mass in D minor, intended for chamber choir, soprano, bass and organ, and the climax will be the Latin Mass in E flat major, considered the most interesting religious work of the composer.
