8th Patchlab Digital Art Festival

Art which is challenging, inquisitive, subversive and which is created using state-of-the-art technologies and media… The Patchlab Digital Art Festival is taking up the challenge for the eighth time.

This year’s leading theme is REALITIES. In the era of social unease, authoritarian tendencies and the growing threat of environmental disaster, the idea of creating parallel worlds seems to be more than simple escapism. Between 24 and 27 October, artists from all over the globe come to Bunkier Sztuki and the Małopolska Art Garden to present their interactive films and immersive audiovisual projects created in this spirit. They include The Lacuna Shifts by the Austrian collective DEPART, allowing us to step “through the looking glass” like Alice from Lewis Carroll’s novels. The Farm 51 studio takes us on a journey to the former nuclear power plant with their Chernobyl VR Project. Keiichi Matsuda presents dystopian films including Merger, sketching a vision of a future ruled by corporations ran by artificial intelligence. And this is just a sample of the programme filled with screenings, performances, exhibitions and workshops.
