The decision to award Bob Dylan the Nobel Prize in Literature may have been controversial in some circles, but for his fans it simply confirmed an undeniable fact that musicians are incredible storytellers. And there isn’t even a need to reach for their memoirs, novels or poems. Proof, if needed, comes in lyrics to their songs – and when they are combined with music they stir our imaginations and emotions. Some listeners are taken on a journey to the past, while others explore brand-new worlds. Compositions with these magical properties fill the concert Poets of Rock, coming to ICE Kraków on 15 March. We will hear musical stories penned by Bob Dylan, John Lennon, David Bowie, Neil Young, Patti Smith, Lou Reed, Johnny Cash, Stevie Wonder, Jim Morrison and Bob Marley, including old favourites and lesser-known songs. They will be performed by stars of Polish stages Krystyna Prońko, Paulina Przybysz, Piotr Rogucki, Sławek Uniatowski and Łukasz Lach, with special guest John Porter. (Bartosz Suchecki, “Karnet”)
