Sanctuary

Anna Sztwiertnia’s exhibition brings back the legendary gay club of the same name to the Downstairs Gallery of the Bunkier Sztuki. The club operated at a former German Lutheran church in New York. The artist takes visitors through a maze of sensuous stimuli roused by objects, videos and sound, light and thermal effects. She helps us transcend our everyday experiences by building a ritual based around motifs of Christian rites, as well as drawing on the spirit of the New Age, rave and techno music and even spa treatments. The event accompanies the Sacrum Profanum festival.
