From the Polish poster school of the 1950s and 1960s to the youngest representatives of today’s art schools, the exhibition prepared by the Dydo gallery and shown at the former Hotel Cracovia includes over 70 works by artists of several generations. The titular mosaic comprises paintings by Mieczysław Górowski and Wiktor Sadowski, drawing compositions by Stasys Eidrigevičius and Sława Harasymowicz, typographic works by Władysław Pluta and Tomasz Kipka, collages by Jacek Staniszewski and Kaja Renkas and photographic puzzles by Tomasz Bogusławski. Classic designs by Eryk Lipiński, Henryk Tomaszewski, Jan Lenica, Waldemar Świerzy, Jan Młodożeniec and Henryk Starowieyski are shown alongside acclaimed contemporary works by artists including Patrycja Longawa and Jakub Zasada. Theatre, film, music and the arts have been the main themes of Polish posters for many decades, while contemporary artists are inspired by current events, premieres and festivals as well as seeking inspiration from cult films such as Roman Polański’s Rosemary’s Baby and Woody Allen’s The Purple Rose of Cairo… (dd)
