Herta Müller has been creating them since the late 1980s from short fragments of texts and pictures cut out from newspapers. To start with, just like Wisława Szymborska, she treated them as postcards sent to friends and family, but over time they evolved into a serious art project. The exhibition Where One Cannot Speak: Word as Image, Image as Word, held at MOCAK, presents dozens of collages by the winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature created between 2005 and 2018.
