In the Heart of the Tatras
The celebration of mountaineering and cinema returns to Zakopane for the 15th time. Until recently, it wasn’t certain whether this year’s Meetings with Mountain Film (5-8 September) would go ahead. Fortunately it is, and we will be able to watch some of the finest films from around the globe and follow the European Bouldering Championships once again.
As well as screenings held as part of the international film festival, the main programme includes the premiere of a trailer for Leszek Dawid’s hotly-awaited feature Broad Peak and a screening of Dariusz Załuski’s documentary The Last Mountain.
Festival guests include the British alpinist Sir Chris Bonington, the Russian climber Denis Urubko and the Polish skialpinist Andrzej Bargiel, appearing via a live webcam link from his base at Mount Everest. The full festival programme can be found at www.zakopane.pl.
