Fighting Gravity
A group of friends from a small town set up a band doing cover versions of hits by Metallica and Nirvana, and dreamt of making it big. There have been many such initiatives over the decades, but few stand the test of time. Years later, Matt Tuck realised that putting everything on the line was plain stupid. Still, luck was on their side: Bullet for My Valentine’s debut album The Poison (2005) was so successful, the Welshmen were able to ditch their part-time jobs and focus on doing what they love best. They made the most of the opportunity with their second album Scream Aim Fire and realised their potential with their blends of metalcore with elements of thrash. Further experiments with their unique sound on Fever, Temper Temper and Venom took them right to the source: their latest album Gravity resounds with the nu metal tendencies of their early years when they performed as Jeff Killed John. On 6 August, the band comes to Kwadrat to present a selection of their tracks. (Bartosz Suchecki, ”Karnet”)
