In 2019, Kraków was named European Capital of Gastronomic Culture! To celebrate, the Museum of Krakow presents the exhibition Tower of Flavours at the Town Hall Tower, telling the story of food culture in Poland from prehistoric times to the present day. We will learn everything there is to know about traditional Polish feasts, discover the daily cooking habits of ordinary Cracovians and trace the history of sugar in our dishes and how it has affected local gastronomy. It is the sweet poison which has helped popularise tea, coffee and chocolate, and it was sugar which has brought cafés and patisseries with their delicious desserts and ice creams to Kraków.
