Franz Schubert’s Wanderer-Fantasie is a major challenge for the finest of pianists. The composer himself admitted that it is so technically demanding, “the devil may play it”. Cyprien Katsaris is in possession of just such skill – the acclaimed French pianist is popular in Poland for his outstanding interpretations of Chopin’s compositions. He performs the Franz Liszt arrangement of the fantasy, accompanied by the Kraków Philharmonic Orchestra, on 7 and 8 June.
