In co-operation with Kino Pod Baranami and Nahda Foundation, we will begin our event with a screening of a Lebanese movie – Where do we go now? directed by Oscar-nominated director Nadine Labaki. The film features a group of women, half of them Christian, half of them Muslim, who conspire to keep the men of their town from killing each other. The local Christians and Muslims have co-existed since time immemorial, however, this equilibrium is disturbed by news of religious strife escalating in the outside world. As the men prepare for battle, the women conspire to maintain a fragile (and increasingly isolated) peace. The movie will be followed by a discussion with experts in Islam and feminism, interfaith dialogue and an Indian perspective of religious secularism (Karolina Rak, Dr. Hosn Abboud, Sindhuja Sank).
