Erotic Lullabies

Music which helps you sleep? Some artists might take offence at being described this way, but Greg Gonzalez takes it as a great compliment. True to the name, his group Cigarettes After Sex resounds with bliss and harmony. The atmosphere is enhanced by the restrained use of instruments – guitar, bass and keyboard – and Gonzalez’s delicate, almost feminine vocals. It has taken almost a decade since his first home recordings to polish the hypnotic structure, inspired by the natural beauty of compositions by Françoise Hardy and the nocturnal atmosphere of works by Miles Davis, to the launch of their debut album.
