Boundless Talent
It’s often said that everyone should do what they are best at. But this is when problems start: what happens when someone is blessed with too much talent? For Lou Doillon, daughter of the British actress Jane Birkin and the French director Jacques Doillon, it seemed natural to start in cinema. As a teenager, she took the world of fashion by storm when she became the face of the luxury brand Givenchy. She also explored stage acting, and a few years later she published a book of her own drawings. And, somehow, she still manages to find time to compose and sing, also to great acclaim. Doillon has captivated audiences with her blend of folk, pop and jazz unified by her distinctive alto voice. Her latest album Soliloquy, resounding at Studio on 19 May, also pays homage to rock and electronica. (Bartosz Suchecki, “Karnet”)
