During last year’s Opera Rara Festival, Marisol Montalvo captivated the audience as Mrs P. – a protagonist of the opera The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat. We are delighted to welcome back the American soprano, this time performing during the concert Stars with Sinfonietta. Montalvo debuted at the National Opera in Paris with the title role in Alban Berg’s Lulu, with “Le Monde” describing her performances as a “true revelation”. The success launched her career on some of the most important musical stages around the globe, and she has been taking on roles in the world’s most popular operas ever since. On 6 May, the artist appears at the Kraków Philharmonic performing a Polish repertoire including Karol Szymanowski’s Słopiewnie Op. 46 (set to words by Julian Tuwim) and Witold Lutosławski’s Chantefleurs et chantefables. The concert also includes Szymanowski’s String Quartet No. 2 Op. 56 and Lutosławski’s Little Suite for chamber orchestra interpreted by the Sinfonietta Cracovia under the baton of Jurek Dybał.
