Films from the South
What if we were to pack it all in and… head to Italy? The review Cinema Italia Oggi 2019 (8-14 April) at Pod Baranami Cinema presents nine films straight from the Apennine Peninsula, hailed by audiences and critics and awarded prizes at international festivals.
We will see We’ll Be Young and Beautiful (dir. Letizia Lamartire) about a singer and her teenaged son, and My Big Gay Italian Wedding (dir. Alessandro Genovesi) – a madcap comedy about a mayor of a southern Italian city and his son who is hoping to marry his long-term partner. There is also the moving, sensitive account of teenage Margherita and her friends (Succede, dir. Francesca Mazzoleni), and a heart-warming comedy about following your dreams and the magic of cinema (Hotel Gagarin, dir. Simone Spada).
Let’s explore the diverse cinematography Europe’s southern coast!
